Hello JK parents!

We had so much fun with our School Pancake Eating Competition early this morning!
Here are a few things we did today:
Daily 5-The JK's took some quiet time to themselves and explored books in the Book Area, on thier own or with a partner.
Language-We practiced our printing skills in our HWT booklets and focused on sentence writing.  We learned more about printing upper and lower case letters in a sentence.
Math-The JK's reviewed their 2D shape skills and examined which shapes had sides and corners.

Reminders:
-Transportation Project due March 3rd, students are to present their transportation projects to the class and explain: 1) what kind of transportation they made
2) what materials did they use to make it.
-Fire Truck visit will be on March 7th, from 9:00 to 11:00 am.  We are still looking for parent volunteers to assist, if you are interested please contact me via email or in your child's agenda.
-Spirit Week: March 6th-10th

Hello JK parents!

What a beautiful Monday! The Jk's enjoyed exploring outside in the sun today.
Here are a few more things we did today:
Daily 5-The JK's were engaged in Literacy Centers today, they practiced their letter name and sound recognition skills using a variety of manipulatives.
Language-The students practiced their letter name and sound recognition skills with a game of SPLAT!  The JK's were spelling out short words that began with the letter g.
Math-We reviewed our 2D shape skills using a variety of cut out shapes, construction paper and glue to create pictures of houses.

Reminders:
-Transportation Projects are due March 3rd, each student is to create any type of transportation using recycled items found at home.  Each student is to being in their transportation on Friday and present to the class.  I still have some empty tissue boxes up for grabs!
-March 7th is the Fire Truck visit from 9:00 to 11:00 am, we are still looking for a few more parent volunteers to assist in supervising for that day.  If you are interested, please email me or write a note in your child's agenda.

Hello JK parents!

We are so proud of all the Poem Presenters, you are all winners in our eyes!!!
The JK's did a great job sitting quietly and patiently during all the poem presentations today.
Here are a few things we did today:
Daily 5-The Jk's took some quiet time and explored books in the Book Area.
Math-We had a lot of fun creating 3D shapes using clay and tooth picks, I was very impressed with what the students created!

Reminders:
-March calendars are sent home today in each of your child's Take Home bags.
-Parents may also pick up the 3D shapes that your child made today in our classroom.

Hello JK parents!

It was such a beautiful day outside today!  We were really busy with fire drills and practicing for the Poem Presentation Competition tomorrow.
Here are a few things we did today:
Daily 5-The students enjoyed listening to a read a loud titled Responsibility, it taught the students what it looked like to be a responsible friend.
French-Ms. Hou played a fun game with the students that practiced their number counting in French.
Gym-Ms. Tyson had the students engaged in a bowling activity.
Language-The JK's practiced their letter g printing skills in their HWT booklets.
Art-Ms. Keer had the students explore and create with modeling clay.

Reminders:
-Tomorrow is Movie Night! If you purchased tickets it will begin from 7-8:15 pm and there will be a dance party from 8:15 -9 pm.
-March Break Camp will take place from 13th-17th and 20th-24th.
-March Hot Lunch orders are due February 27th.
-Scholastic Book orders are due February 24th.

Hello JK parents!

It was a foggy day today, but we did not let that keep us from learning and having fun!
Here are a few things we did today:
Daily 5-The students were engaged in Literacy Centers and practiced their letter recognition and phonetic skills, using matching card games and letter blocks.
Language-The JK's had so much fun with the SPLAT! game yesterday, they wanted to do it again today.
UOI-The students did such a great job presenting their poems yesterday that we learned a new transportation poem titled I'm a Little Airplane!  The students were risk takers and took turns reciting the poem to the class.

Reminders:
-Poem Presentations for the top three students in each class will take place on February 24th, the JK's that were chosen will present from 9-11 am.
-Fire Truck visit will take place March 7th from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the school, we will need a few parent volunteers to assist during the visit.  If you or know someone that would like to volunteer please email me.

Hello JK parents!

I everyone enjoyed their long weekend and spent their some family together!
All the JK's did a really great job presenting their poems to the class and Mrs. Padovan.  Mrs. Padovan observed my class and I observed Mrs. Padovn's class and we both decided on the top three presenters for each class!
Here are a few things we did today:
Daily 5-The students wanted to explore books in the Book Area on their own or with a partner, they each had to look for words that began with the letter c.
Language-We were all engaged with a new game that focused on letter name and sound recognition skills, using words that begin with the letter c.  The students had to SLAT a word and spell it out to the class!
UOI-The JK's learned more about road Safety with an interactive game using road signs, we discussed as  a class which each on meant and what to look out for.

Reminders:
-Tomorrow is Casual Day.
-School Bake Sale will continue until February 23rd.

Hello JK parents!

We had so much fun celebrating our 100th day of school today!  We were all busy with fun activities:
The JK's enjoyed decorating their 100th Day of School crowns using, construction paper, markers, crayons, pencil crayons, crayons and Bingo daubers.
We also practiced counting to 100 as a class using a numbers chart and learning a new song!
Language-We practiced our printing, letter sound and early reading skills with lower case letter d.  The students also used their HWT booklets to print the letter d.

Reminders:
-February 17th is a P.D. Day and on February 20th it is Family Day, the school will be CLOSED.
-February 21st there is a Bake Sale and in class Poem presentations.  Student are to memorize the poems that were assigned to them as best as they can and will present to the class.
-February 22nd is Casual Day.
-February 24th is Movie Night and Poem Presentations for the top three chosen in each class/grade.

Hello JK parents!

Everyone did a great job presenting their 3D shapes today, students were able to show their learning by describing the attributes of the shapes.
Daily 5-The students were engaged in Language Centers today, they explored manipulatives that practiced letter name and sound recognition skills.
French-Ms. Hou taught the students a new song about family, just in time for Family Day!
Art-Ms. Kerr had the students create another Valentine's Day art project, using markers and crayons.

Reminders:
-Tomorrow is the 100th Day of School! The Kindergarten classes are celebrating by dressing up like we are 100 years old!
-February 17th and 20th the school will be CLOSED.
-February 21st is our in class Poem Presentations, students are to memorize as best they can the poems that were selected for them and present to the class.  The 3 best presenters will be chosen to represent for our grade and move on to the School Presentation Competition on February 24th.
-February 21st is Bake Sale at the school.
-February 22nd is also Casual Day.
-February 24th is Movie Night, you may purchase a ticket for $10, forms were sent home in Take Home Bags last week.
