Hello JK parents!

Happy Monday and I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!  The Jk's were ready for another week of learning and exploration, focusing on lover case s, forms of transportation and 2D shapes.  Thank you to all the parents who come to International Day last Friday, it was a big hit!
Here are a few more things we did today:
Daily 5-The JK's enjoyed some quiet time exploring through books individually and with a partner.
Language-We focused on lower case s and barnstormed short words that begin with the letter, we also practiced saying the letters and sounds of each word.  Each student had fun using square shaped construction paper to decorate letter s mats.
Math-Each student had the opportunity to investigate and classify which 2D shapes belonged in the "triangle" pile and which shapes belonged in the "not triangle" pile.  The JK's had to explain why, using examples of similar or different attributes.

Reminders:
-Tomorrow is our school Bake Sale! It is our turn to bring in yummy nut free treats, we really appreciate all who are able to contribute and participate.
-Year a Head Day will be on Wednesday, January 25th.  The JK class will be going to Ms. Gullingham's class for the day to experience what it is like to be in SK!  Just a reminder that it does not mean your child will be in Ms. Gullingham's class for September
-Scholastic book orders are due January 24th.
Inquiry Table: What can you make with these shapes?
