Hello JK parents!

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! It was a beautiful Spring day outside today and we were busy learning more about Living Things and the letter of the week, lower case l.
Here are a few things we did today:
Daily 5-We practiced our letter recognition and sound skills with an engaging alphabet game!  The JK's also listened to a read a loud titled My Dog is as Smelly as a Dirty Sock, which was brought in my Ronan.
French-Ms. Hou had the students classifying words that were Living or Nonliving Things in French!
Language-The Jk's practiced thier letter printing skills in their HWT booklets.
Math/UOI-The students were learning more about different kinds of animals, such as reptiles, mammals, amphibians, fish, insects and birds.  Each student had to classify a picture of a living thing and determine what kind of animal was it.

Reminders:
-Legoland forms and money are due tomorrow! The trip will take place Wednesday, May 10th, students are to be at school before 9:15 am, parents who are volunteering will meet us at the location for 10:00 am.  
-Easter Spirit Day is on Thursday, April 13th, students are to dress up in Easter colours.
-The school is CLOSED on April 14th and 17th.

Fire truck visit!!!!







Hello JK parents!

What a snowy Friday we had this morning! The JK's were dressed up warm and enjoyed the School Talent Show for the first half of our day.  The JK's did a great job listening and showing how to be a good audience.
Here are a few things we worked on today:
Daily 5-The students explored a variety of Literacy Centers, using picture and short word cards and puzzles.
Language-The JK's continued practicing our letter name and sound skills with an engaging alphabet game!
Math-We continued our Measurement unity and explored sizes, smallest to tallest.  The JK's took turns placing each other in order of size.


Reminders:
-April 7th is the Scholl Talent Show and will take place at 9:30 am.
-April 11th the trip forms and money to Legoland are due.
-Legoland trip is on Wednesday, May 10th.  We are also looking for parent volunteers!
-April 14th and 17th the school will be CLOSED.
-Scholastic book orders are due April 26th.

Hello JK parents!

It was a rainy day today! We were very busy with lots of learning!
Here are a few things we did today:
Daily 5-The JK's listened to a funny story that Bryana brought in today titled There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Desk.
Language-The students practiced their lower case e printing and letter sound skills.  The JK's were engaged with a name game, where each student had to find a name that had the letter e in it.
Math-The JK's were introduced to our new measuring unit! The JK's worked with partners and found items around the classroom that were either bigger or smaller than their piece of string.

Hello JK parents!

What a beautiful day it was today! The sun shinning will help our little seeds grow!
Here are a few things we did today:
Daily 5-The JK's enjoyed exploring books in the Book Area today, I challenged them to look for the letter of the week (lower case letter e).
Language-We continued our printing practice in our HWT booklets, we worked on lower case letter e.
Math/UOI-The students collaborated in their table groups and worked on classifying which pictures belonged in the Living Things or Nonliving Things column.  The JK's did a great job working together as a team!

Hello JK parents!

It was another rainy day, but the JK's were excited to learn more about Living and nonliving things today! Here are a few things we did today:
Daily 5-The JK's had the opportunity to listen to two read a loud stories today about living things. They were titled Is It a Living Thing? and The Tiny Seed, which introduced our Science activity.
Math-The students worked on classifying pictures that were either living or nonliving.
Science/UOI-The JK's were excited to learn more about living things with our Seed Experiment, each student got to plant a seed and will be responsible for taking care of it.  We explored the many things living things, such as plants need in order to live and grow.

Reminders:
-Parent and Teacher Conference time sheets are sent home today in your child's Take Home bag (only if you handed in the request form).
-April 7th is the School Talent Show and will take place at 9:30 am.
-School will be CLOSED on April 14th and 17th.
