Monday 5 June 2017

Hello JK parents!

Happy Monday! It's a busy week for the JK's, we will be practicing today until Art's Night on June 7th.  Here are a few things we did today:
Daily 5-The Jk's enjoyed exploring Literacy Centers, using letter blocks, puzzles and books to practice their phonetic skills.
French-Ms. Hou had the students share what they did during the weekend, the students were encouraged to use french vocabulary that they learned.
Language-We had another shared reading circle today, using our alphabet booklets.  The students also had to search and find upper/lower case letter a in each page.  We will be working on our booklets all week.
Math-We practiced counting from 1 to 100 as a class and I challenged each student to name a number that I chose from the chart.
Art-Ms. Kerr had the students finish the art projects that they will be displaying for Art's Night.

Reminders:
-Arts Night will be June 7th and performances will begin at 7:00 pm.  Students are to be back at school by 6:30 pm.  As part of the JK performance, we would like to ask parents to dress the students in bright colours and to be wearing an Afro wig or 70's style hair (70's theme).
-Kindergarten Promotion Ceremony will be held on June 13th from 9-10 am.  Parents are welcome to come to see the JK's receive a certificate for completing JK!  Students may also dress up on that day for the ceremony.
-Mrs. Blair's last day is on June 9th.
-Spirit Day will be held on the last day of school and Report Cards will be sent home on June 16th.
